Description: This is a lovely example of David Salk's unique technique. David's specialty is his personal creation, "clay basket". This showcases the refined pottery skill and a nod to the intricate Native American woven baskets. The pottery mimics the designs and coiled shapes of early 19th-century southwest baskets. The designs are recreated using iron oxide, which is then fired into the clay as a way of preserving. David Salk's work has been recognized for its accuracy by the Museum of National History.
