Antique Chinese Lacquered Cinnabar Low Coffee Table
Description: This is a beautiful example of the Chinese lacquered cinnabar technique. Cinnabar has been used for thousands of years as a coloring agent because of its intense red-orange color. It is obtained naturally by grinding ore with mercury into a fine powder then mixing the powder into dyes, paints and other finishes such as lacquer. Cinnabar is the primary in colors commonly referred as vermilion and Chinese red. While cinnabar is the color; lacquer is the material from which the objects are carved. Another traditional and special detail included in this stunning table is the use of Mother of Pearl flower inlays. This would make a great coffee, cocktail or tea table. Please see all photos.
