Small Circa 1760s Connecticut Queen Anne Cherry Highboy
Charming size. It measures 38.5” at widest points, 20” at the deepest point, 69” tall. Case measures approx 36” wide, 18.5” deep. This highboy is one of the better examples we have found in recent years. This highboy top and bottom are original to each other, unlike most we find. It has a very old finish. Well, sculpted deep apron and 1700’s bat shape brass possibly original to the piece. The drawers are working exceptionally well with no effort. The only concern is the legs appear to be cut at the knee point (shown in the last picture) and rejoined with pegs (exceptionally well done). We are not sure why or how this has come about. likely this was done over 200 years ago. Legs are sturdy and almost make you think if this apart the cabinets maker plan (likely not, not common practice)
